​​​​​​​The information on this page will help get you started with SLIP if you are using desktop Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications to access SLIP services.

There are many desktop GIS applications available. The Landgate SLIP team present information below on how to use two popular GIS packages to access SLIP, QG​IS and A​rcGIS. Information is included on what versions of these software packages have been tested with SLIP.

For further information on how to use these GIS packages or other software to access OGC and Esri web services, please refer to your software provider.​

Connecting to SLIP via QGIS

Notes on using WFS in QGIS

The new SLIP services support the 1.x flavour of WFS services. No additional plugins will be required to access the services.​​

Notes on using WMS and WMTS in QGIS

QGIS natively supports pu​blic and secured WMS and WMTS services without the need for any plugins. For secured services, enter the email address and password you registered to access SLIP with.

Notes on using Esri Map Services

SLIP is now built on ArcGIS Server, so users of ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro can connect directly to either the public or the secure​​d services from within those applications.​​​​

Notes on using WFS in ArcGIS

SLIP services support the 1.x flavour of WFS services, so no additional plugins will be required to access the services.
